MOBILE PICING LINE (MPL) ECO Atitude Environmental Actions brought to Brazil a mobile plant to sort construction waste, promoting income and job generation, minimizing the environmental impact ensuing from residues. The work waste account for about 50% (in weight) of the total urban residues generated in cities with population of 500,000 inhabitants or more. In Brazil, any technology for recycling residues must engage the scavengers who are the main responsible for the high rates of recycling of some recyclables found in domestic and commercial waste, like aluminum (cans); plastic (PET bottles); paper; cardboard, etc. In opposition to the recyclables found in domestic and commercial waste, the recyclables part of the work waste usually is not recycled, mainly because of the practical difficulty of turning over the piles of waste. Moreover, most of the illegal waste deposits are found in remote regions, thus hindering the access of the cooperatives to those materials, of high recycling potential. The Mobile Sorting Plant (MSP), among others, allows for generating job and income to local scavengers’ associations / cooperatives, facilitating the sorting of waste in safe conditions and with higher productivity. Another benefit is the reduced number of public health conditions, since the waste that are uncontrolled disposed on illegal sites favor the proliferation of disease vectors (rodents, insects, etc.). Since it is mobile, the MSP allows the legalization and licensing of smaller and decentralized areas for receiving, storing and treating the residues – the so-called Transshipment, Sorting and Recycling Aras (TSRA). A MSP can serve different TSRA’s, and can be displaced according to the storage capacity of each TSRA. Waste after the sorting line. |
